Yesterday, I upgraded a faculty member's G4 PowerBook from OS
10.1 to OS 10.2.2 --- however, now it will not recognize a DVD that
had been created for her work group (had no problem with it in OS
10.1). If I go DVD Player to File to Open VIDEO_TS Folder... and
lead it to the DVD which is visible on the Desktop as a DVD and
Choose the DVD, it gives the following: "There was a system error.
Could not detect a valid media file." This is both before and after
the software update that just came out. However, if I boot in only
OS 9.2.2, it will recognize and play the DVD properly. So, it is a
OS 10.2.2 software problem only.
I had tried the DVD on an early-G4 tower running OS 9.1 and
there was no problem. Also tried it on my new G4 running OS 10.2.2 &
OS 9.2.2 --- same thing as PowerBook G4 (will run only if boot in
9.2.2). Both OS 10.2.2 computers recognize a commercial DVD.
Related problem: I had been unable to access the mini-CDs
that my Sony Mavica CD300 digital camera uses on my new G4.
Apparently it needs Adaptec HDF Volume Access in OS 9 (not supposed
to be needed in 10.2.2 and not available for X). If I boot for only
9.2.2, it now shows up and is available as it was on my old computer.
So, somehow the software for full use of the SuperDrive or
any CD/DVD is missing from OS 10.2.2 (that existed for OS 9) ---
definitely not what I expected.

PS: I have tried researching both problems at Apple's website and
other sites with no results/success. The non-commercial DVD has an
Apple logo on it so it isn't a non-Apple vendor "conflict" in any
way. Any help would be welcome. Thanks.
