Our experience with DAT has been one of extreme unreliability, both of
drives and tapes. We have moved almost entirely to DLT and AIT, with AIT
being our current preferred solution. To maintain any sort of reliability,
ee had to replace our DAT tapes after only two backup cycles; AIT tapes
live forever. (Well, we've lost one or two).
