MAGNet,
Thank you to those who made suggestions about fixing the typing delay
problem described below. We have concluded that it is the hard disk
sleep mode that is causing the problem. After turning off that
feature (while still maintaining display sleep), the typing delay no
longer occurs.
We are content to use the G4 without hard disk sleep, but are still
curious about why this problem is occurring under Mac OS 9.2.1, as we
have not seen it before under OS 8.6 or 9.01 on the same computer,
all other things (apps, exts, etc.) being equal.
