Eric Belsley's Mac Resource Page, on February 19, 1998, included a
terrific summary of what actually goes on 'behind the scenes' between
FTP client and server when your FTP client program initiates an FTP
data connection via the passive mode ("PASV") command, rather than
via the "PORT" command:
