Hi all:
I have to say thanks to all of you who sent me suggestions on what to do. It turns out that Terrie Glover had the final solution and sent it to me via an attachment. It's an HP Readme file showing a user how to connect and print via a USB connection. I found out you have to completely skip the Chooser and use the Desktop Printer Utility to choose the USB Printer Selection. It worked within seconds of configuring it. Terrie's a God. Saved us several hundred dollars (didn't have to buy a new printer) and I didn't gain a few gray hairs.
If anyone wants a copy of the file, just let me know and I can send it to them.
