Hi everyone,
I'm stuck...
We have a visiting professor who has inherited a Performa 6115. I
tried, misguidedly, to upgrade it to system 7.6.1, so that it can run
a later version of Netscape (it had 1.1 on it, believe it or not,).
There are no docs and no system disks available for this computer in
our department.
It went permanently off line, and nothing I can do changes that.
(I've adjusted IP addresses, TCP-IP settings, ethernet, etc)
I looked on the TIL and found out that it's possible that Open
Transport 1.1.2 and later are NOT compatible with this strange,
hybrid antique. On the other hand, there is very little mentioned on
the TIL about this Performa family, as if Apple is denying its
parentage.
Does anyone know for sure about possible incompatibilities with Open
Transport 1.1.2 and later?
If I reinstalled the native 7.5, how recent could I go with Netscape?
Eudora? Could I just drop the old Open Transport extensions into the
7.6.1 system folder?
Does anyone have the system disks for a Performa 6115 that I could
borrow for a few hours?
