Electronic Mail Addresses for Managers and Chairs

L&S Computer Resources has set up a system of e-mail address aliases to facilitate communication with department managers and chairs in the College. Individuals can be reached by their department titles, and groups of managers or chairs can be reached through their divisions. For example, to send electronic mail to the department manager or chair of Classics, one can address the e-mail message to dm_classics@LS or ch_classics@LS. To reach all the department managers or chairs in the L&S Division of Humanities, one can address the e-mail message to dm_hum@LS or ch_hum@LS. To reach all department managers or chairs in the College, the addresses dm_ls@LS or ch_ls@LS should be used.
Currently, aliases are available for:
Directly below each L&S Division alias are the aliases for the department managers or chairs in that Division. These e-mail addresses are not case-sensitive, meaning that upper or lower case letters can be used.

The L&S Computer Resources Postmaster maintains the list of current department managers and chairs with the actual individual address, so that dm_classics@LS or ch_classics@LS will reach the individual manager or chair in the department. Changes in managerial or chair appointments or specific e-mail addresses should be sent as soon as possible to Postmaster@LS.

At this time, L&S departments use a wide variety of mail systems and computers. Some of these systems are not able to receive "enclosures" of microcomputer documents. Please keep this in mind if you send enclosures. If you receive enclosures which are not usable on your system, please inform the sender with an e-mail reply. In the near future, L&S Computer Resources will be addressing these issues by creating alternative ways of distributing documents (FTP sites, Mosaic/Gopher Servers, and other servers).

We hope that these aliases will be useful for distributing information more efficiently. Any comments, suggestions or questions about this service should be sent via e-mail to Postmaster@LS.
