The campus does not have any special arrangements with third-party Internet Service Providers (ISP). You should be able to access the campus network from your home ISP connection, any wireless connection, or any other way you manage to connect to the Internet. The only firewall the campus provides is a block on the Windows file-sharing ports; if you need to access Windows file shares from the Internet, you will need to use the Campus Virtual Private Network (VPN) service (see below). You may also need to use the VPN to access certain Library resources.
Use the campus VPN services to provide secure authentication from outside of the UC campus system. VPN offers encryption of data transmitted over the Internet. Using VPN provides authorized users to access UC campus systems by providing an authenticated connection and bypassing any port blocking at the campus border.
